We are meeting about the spatial vision for District Six
20 November 2020
The City of Cape Town wants to remind residents and interest groups of the second workshop about the local spatial development framework, or local neighbourhood plan for District Six. The meeting is taking place on Thursday, 26 November 2020.
The City hosted the introductory meeting about the local spatial development framework (LSDF) for District Six on 22 September 2020, and the first workshop was on 22 October 2020. Both meetings were well attended and we hope that the second workshop will attract even more residents and interested parties.
The workshop on 26 November 2020 will be online, as well as in person.
The City is making five venues available where residents can attend in person and we kindly request that you RSVP by Tuesday, 24 November 2020, given that we need to prepare and implement COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

https://bit.ly/CCT-DistrictSix The 2012 District Six Spatial Development Framework forms the basis of the workshops. The plan is available on the City’s website, and can be perused in advance.
‘We will, at the workshop, present to attendees the City’s Social Charter for refining and finalising the LSDF for District Six. The purpose of the charter is to make clear the City’s intentions with the process, our guiding principles, as well as our commitment to the beneficiaries and other residents in realising one of the most important redress projects we will see in Cape Town in coming years. As I have said before, the City is working closely with residents. We want to include everybody, and I am encouraging residents and all interest groups to please contribute to this process and to fully participate. The City is also working on local spatial development frameworks for other areas, and will communicate about these in due course,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee for Spatial Planning and Environment, Alderman Marian Nieuwoudt.
The online presentations will be screened at the five venues.
The threat of the COVID-19 pandemic is still with us.
We want to remind all that the wearing of face masks is compulsory. Temperature screening will be done on arrival at the venues, attendees will be required to complete a contact form and use hand sanitiser, and social distancing will be observed in line with COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
